Child Life Coaching

Why get coaching? Here are 4 Benefits of Coaching for kids on the Autism Spectrum and ADHD

Coaching is an excellent way to help children with Autism, ADHD or learning disabilities develop the life skills they needs to overcome life’s challenges and decisions. Our coaching program is not about quick wins or fixes, it focuses on continual development over time. Here are 4 key benefits of life coaching for kids with Autism, ADHD and learning disabilities.

  1. Helps them understand that external achievements don’t always equal happiness

Getting first place in sports games, winning contests and high test scores are great, however it’s not the only measure of success. In contrast, if they don’t achieve those accolades, it is not a measure of their self-worth. Coaching can help children understand that external achievements do not measure success nor are they the only way to feel happy.

  1. Learn that their emotions and experiences are two separate things

Children often go through a rollercoaster of emotions during the day, particularly if they have difficulties transitioning from activities, issues with self-regulation, or any other challenges that throw a curve in their day. Coaching can help them explore why those emotions arose, and separate them from their experiences.  Coaching can help them understand why they are feeling sad or frustrated, but it doesn’t define who they are.

  1. 3. Helps them build balance and curiosity

Children with ASD tend to easily fixate on one thing, or express repetitive behaviours. Coaching helps encourage balance and explores different activities and interests.

  1. 4. Keeps a focus on character building and confidence

Coaching can help children learn what really makes them feel happy and build confidence in their choices. Our coaching program provides a set of techniques and tools to help children with ASD, ADHD and learning disabilities shape attributes and good habits, in fun positive ways. This, in turn, can assist your child who may be struggling socially or academically what their strengths are, and to pursue them.

Impact

It all starts with a little chat! No frills, no spills, just a nice conversation with you. We spend time getting to know every parent even before they become our clients by having an in depth, no obligation telephone consultation.
R

Assess

Before we commit to coaching your child, we ask you to complete our online Kids Life Studio® Lifestyle Assessment so that we can get a snapshot of where your child may need our support.
R

Consult

Then comes the science-y bits, it’s all about the graphs! After we have analysed the assessment we may feel it necessary to invite you and your child in for a family consultation to get to know you that little bit more. In this time, we ask your child for their input by doing an informal questionnaire based on our findings in the original assessment.
