ADHD THERAPY AND LEARNING DISABILITIES THERAPY
When a child is on the Autism spectrum, they often show signs of ADHD, learning disabilities and other developmental issues. Scientists have speculated that Autism and the other Autistic Spectrum Disorders are caused by poor connectivity within and between major brain structures. Genetic and other factors come into play but ultimately autistic behaviours are outcomes of how individual’s brains are ‘wired’
TREATMENT FOR LEARNING DISABILITIES AND HYPERACTIVITY
Learning disabilities have no cure, however early intervention can lessen their effects and individuals can develop ways to cope with their disabilities. Getting help earlier increases the chance of success in school and later in life. If learning disabilities remain untreated, a child may begin to feel frustrated, which can lead to low self-esteem and other challenges. The most common interventions are behavioural therapies such as Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), special education, and medication. These each help somewhat, however none of them get at the core cause of the problem which is the connectivity in the brain or learning links that our brain builds after every experience in our day.
HOW THE HOUSE OF DEVELOPMENT HELPS WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES THERAPY
How the House of Child Development helps with ADHD Therapies and treats Learning Disabilities
Our ADHD therapies and treatment plans for learning disabilities includes the latest evidence-based treatments to ensure that our clients get the help they need safely, and effectively. Our treatments are always individually tailored to suit your child’s specific needs. We also work closely with education and social care professionals to ensure that the services for your child meets their needs.
HOW OUR ASD BRAIN TRAINING COURSES WORK
In contrast to ABA therapy, our ADHD Therapy involves coaching children with sensory integration exercises and specific auditory stimulation. This is conducted by listening to specially engineered classical music delivered through bone conduction headphones. Depending on the child, we also use other sensory integration exercises and computerized biofeedback games that teach mental focus on a task as well as social skills.
REBUILDING CONNECTIVITY IN THE BRAIN
Decades of research in neuroplasticity and child development psychology has revealed that specialized activities can stimulate the brain to grow and develop at any time in life. Our ADHD Therapy and Learning Disabilities treatment programs provide a whole-brain workout that strengthens connections within and between the major brain structures that are affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders. These brain structures include the Cerebral Cortex, Amygdala, Hippocampus, Basal Ganglia, Corpus Collosum, Brain Stem and Cerebellum. Through consistent exposure within these therapies, your child will have the opportunity to experience better physical coordination, emotional regulation, communication and interpersonal relationships.
What Is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder?
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) affects children and teens and can continue into adulthood. ADHD is the most commonly diagnosed mental disorder of children. Children with ADHD may be hyperactive and unable control their impulses, or they may have trouble paying attention. These behaviors interfere with school and home life. ADHD is more common in boys than in girls and is typically discovered during the early school years, when a child begins to have problems paying attention.
